DIY Paper Butterflies

I really LOVE the way these turned out in my sisters room!  There are so many different things that you could do with this idea! Can’t you see these used as party decorations, scrapbooking, mixed media, etc..  You  can really use whatever you have on hand for paper.  I used scrapbook paper, but I think they would also look good with wrapping paper, colored copy paper, paper bags, or you could draw some on sketch paper and cut them out.  I also want to try vellum and glassine.

As for a template, I freehanded mine and traced it onto the back of the paper, but there are some gorgeous templates here and here.

 Things you’ll need:

  • paper
  • scissors or a craft knife
  • tape
  • creativity
  • template(optional)

Trace the template onto the back of your paper.  Fit as many as you can onto the paper (especially if your using scrapbook paper). Then cut them out with the scissors or a craft knife*. If all you have is one sided tape, tape the ends together with the sticky side out.

There are so many different ways you could use these than just a wall decoration and I want try some different things for sure.

*If you use a craft knife don’t forget to put a mat under it!!!

P.S. Yes my photography skills need work 😉
