The Beauty of Obscurity

In the beginning, obscurity is good.

Nobody is around while you waste time figuring out what to say.

Nobody knows you’re an imposter yet.

Nobody knows how bad you suck.

Which is good, because very often you don’t know those things either. And then you do and you’re really glad that people don’t know how bad your art is when you say you’re an artist, or that you really don’t know what you’re trying to say though you say you’re a writer, you just type things. You say you’re a designer, but you have no idea how to use Adobe, you just kinda know what looks good, and your work isn’t it.

Luckily, no one will start paying you attention until you have something worth paying attention to. Then, you have to worry about why you’re getting attention. But you’re not there yet.

For now just keep showing up and find something to say.

Even if you’ve basically written this blog post before.
